POP3/IMAP Settings for Email Piping

Ucare Support requires a dedicated mailbox that uses POP3/IMAP to work. These are basically the credentials that the plugin will use to authenticate and pull the email messages in the mailbox.

This add-on will work with any mail provider, as long as they use either POP3 or IMAP protocols. This plugin will not work with any proprietary protocols. But worry not, as most mail services support at least one of these protocols. Below, you can find settings for some of the popular mail providers.

Outlook.com Imap Settings

  • Incoming Mailbox Address: imap-mail.outlook.com
  • Mail Protocol: IMAP
  • Username: your email address
  • Password: your password
  • Port number: 993
  • Secure Port – SSL/TLS: Yes

Gmail Imap Settings

In order for Gmail to work, you need to allow less secure apps to access the account. Click here to learn how to do that. This allows the email piping to work. The process that the email piping plugin is completely secure. In fact, it is the same process used by most popular mail clients such as Outlook, Firebird etc..

Yahoo Imap Settings

  • Incoming Mailbox Address: imap.mail.yahoo.com
  • Mail Protocol: IMAP
  • Username: your email address
  • Password: your password
  • Port number: 993

Issues connecting?

If you are using any of the above, or a different mail service, and you’re having issues connecting with the proper credentials, please go to your account settings and enable the option to “allow less secure apps” to access the mail service. This allows the email piping to work. The process that the email piping plugin is completely secure. In fact, it is the same process used by most popular mail clients such as Outlook, Firebird etc. This option is turned off by default for many mail services because email piping is for advanced usage, and your mail service needs your permission to enable.
